I don’t really regard this as a trick, but rather just a different way to open your lighter. To start off (if you are a right hander), you hold the lighter sideways, hinges down, cap on right, and body on left. The fingers are positioned as follows: thumb on bottom, right next to the hinges. Index finger on the body next to the joint, ring finger on cap (this forms a triangle). The first knuckle of the middle finger is used for stabilizing the lighter, and it should be midway between your index, ring finger and and you thumb. Open the lighter by moving your ring finger to the right. While you are doing this, do a 180 turn (clockwise) with your wrist. This should have you palm facing up and the lighter open. Now push with your thumb down, so the lighter is sandwiched between the index, ring and middle. The middle finger should be between the /\ that the cap forms with the body. Use your thumb to strike the wheel. Close by moving your thumb (which is on the body) left to join with the cap.
