Hold the the ligter by the cap, Index and Ring finger on the Front and your Middle Finger on the back. That is your grip, the hinge should be towards your Thumb. Use an up and out motion like in unpadded bra to open the lighter at the same time strike with your Thumb to light (try to do this all in one motion). Use a firm flicking motion to shut the lighter. This is also an excellent "table trick."
