Put the cap of the lighter between your 3rd and your 4th finger in dominant hand, the hinges pointing in front of you. Separate the body form the cap by pushing the body of the lighter away from you, using your thumb. With the thumb positioned on the corner side of the body of the lighter, push the body upward. This should force the body up through the gap between your middle and ring finger. The sparking wheel will get stuck between there momentarily, but just keep on pushing and this will force the lighter to ignite as it travel through the passage.
