100 Watt Super Lead by mr.twistyneck
It doesn't matter where you go - you could be talking to a pink-haired nasty bartender in Murfreesboro, TN, or to an adult movie producer in a bar in Lillestrom, Norway - but they all want to see "y'know, that move where you squeeze it open and it's already lit". They always know somebody, or somebody's college roommate who could do this trick. But nobody has ever been able to actually prove that it exists. So there are already two tricks on the web site which do versions of this, the first is one of the older text-only tricks, Reuben Isaac's One Hand Squeeze. The second is Bader's Squeeze It Lit. Both these tricks use traditional squeeze holds with an index strike. So while Booty and I were in Norway, we sat around with Morten at Zippotricks.com headquarters and complained about this fabled trick. Drew Barrymore does it in the movie "Charlie's Angels", but she used a modified lighter that had holes drilled in the cap - so the , lighter was actually lit, then closed, then the cameras rolled and she squeezed it open, and it was lit. Well whoopty doo for Drew. When I got back from Norway, I was driving to another town to get a trailer for a band gig, and I started fiddling with a different squeeze hold. It was extremely easy to pull off. Then I discovered that due to the hold, I could actually get my Index finger in and strike the wheel before or right when the cam made the opening Click. A-HA! Here's how you do it: Hold the lighter with the Bottom sitting on your curled Ring finger, the Hinge pointing away from your palm. Your Middle finger will gently cradle the back of the Body. Put your Thumb on the edge of the cap, and Squeeze, sliding your Thumb down onto the Body, while bringing your Index finger in to ignite. Don't think there's enough time to ignite before the click? Slowly open the Cap and see for yourself - there's plenty of time to get your Index finger in there before the Cam clicks. Even if you're slow, you can do it just as the Cam clicks, which is just as good. I call this type of squeeze a "One Move Squeeze". Think it's the same as a traditional Thumb Squeeze? Nope - a Thumb Squeeze has your Index and Middle fingers on the Bottom, which prevents your Index from doing a quick strike. The "One Move Squeeze" lets you get in there with your Index nice and quick. If you're having trouble doing this, try an "Easy Squeeze" which is the same thing, but rest the Bottom of the Zippo lighter on your Middle finger [instead of your Ring finger], and cradle the back with your Index finger. Once you get that down, the "One Move Squeeze" is peanuts. Close with a Cap Swing. The best part of this whole story is that I was in a bar, and a guy asked if I could do the "Squeeze it open already lit" move that his Uncle's Shipmate's Cousin's Next-door Neighbor could do. So I showed him 100 Watt Super Lead, and he went "Yeah, that's the one". Case closed.
