The cap should be on the bottom and the hinge should be pointing away from you. The index finger should be on the lid directly under the hinge. The thumb should be on the case across from the hinge or also seen as diagonal to the index finger. Apply pressure and the Zippo should open. When the case opens your thumb and index finger should be grabbing the lid. The index finger should still be right next to the hinge. Put the middle finger at the bottom corner of the Zippo. The middle finger should be diagonal from the thumb also. Release the index finger in the process. Let the lighter turn upside down having the chimney point towards your palm.Apple pressure on your middle finger to light the Zippo with your palm.
